The glass edges are polished and arrised, making handling easier. Safety toughened glass is manufactured to AS/NZS2208 and 2080 and is Grade A safety glass as per AS1288 (you will find the certified stamp in the corner of the standard panels, however special dimension panels do not have the stamp). Toughened glass is up to 500% stronger than annealed glass and is therefore more resistant to thermal breakage and can withstand greater wind loads. On rare occasions toughened glass can break for what seems to be no apparent reason. Most often however, breakage is usually due to surface damage or excessive loading on the toughened glass. Please see our video demonstration of toughened glass breaking to give you an idea of how it reacts when it breaks.
Just a gentle clean wash with a soft brush and mild detergent followed by a fresh water rinse will maintain the long performance of your products. Warning: strong abrasive house hold cleaners and solvents including those recommended for thinning paints are harmful and should not be used. Acidic and alcohol based cleaning products should not be used either.
